These are exciting times at Valley Hospital Medical Center, and we are proud of the continued growth and future of our Family Medicine Residency Program. Our goal is to provide residents with an outstanding training experience in an environment that is educational, supportive and focused on professional growth. We are committed to developing skilled, compassionate family physicians who are prepared to provide comprehensive care across the full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient medicine.

The Valley Hospital Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program is a three-year, 36-month postgraduate program fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Since the program's inception in 2014, our graduates have maintained a 100% board pass rate on both ABFM and AOA board examinations.

Comprehensive, Patient-Centered Training

Continuity of care is at the heart of our program. Through the Family Medicine Continuity Clinic (FMCC), residents build meaningful longitudinal relationships with patients while gaining progressive responsibility in acute, chronic, preventive and complex care.

Our curriculum combines strong clinical training with structured didactics, specialty experiences, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), procedural education and hands-on Osteopathic Principles and Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Residents are supported by faculty in regularly incorporating OMT into continuity clinic practice.

Residents also gain experience in inpatient medicine, pediatrics, emergency care, extended-care facilities, home visits and outpatient specialties throughout the Las Vegas community.

Academic Growth and Career Development

Our program has maintained a strong academic culture since its inception. Residents are encouraged to participate in scholarly activity, research, poster presentations, publications and professional activities through organizations such as NOMA and NAFP. Many residents regularly present their work at regional and national conferences.

Teaching is also an important part of residency training. Residents work closely with medical students, developing skills as educators while creating opportunities for scholarly collaboration and publication.

Career development is supported through individualized mentorship, a dedicated practice management experience and access to a strong local network of physicians and employers. Residents interested in private practice can receive practical guidance from faculty with firsthand experience in practice development and management.

  • Addiction Medicine
  • Wound Care

We are especially proud of our recent graduates who matched into Sleep Medicine and Addiction Medicine fellowships, as well as graduates who have built successful careers in Wound Care and other areas of focused practice.

A Supportive Program Culture

One of the greatest strengths of our program is its people. Many of our faculty members are themselves graduates of the Valley Hospital Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program, creating a strong sense of continuity, mentorship and investment in resident success.

Faculty maintain a strong presence in didactics, clinical teaching, career mentorship and wellness activities. Our wellness culture includes resident and faculty events throughout the year, including our annual residency pickleball tournament.

We also continue to expand how residents learn and practice medicine. Our Medical AI Committee encourages residents to thoughtfully incorporate emerging technology and artificial intelligence into education, scholarship and clinical practice.
