Claude Wise has been named CEO of Valley Hospital Medical Center, a 306-bed acute care hospital in the Las Vegas Medical District.

As the CEO, Wise is responsible for all facets of management including strategic planning, business development, physician relations and value-based purchasing expectations, along with overseeing finance, human resources and graduate medical education (GME).

“I’m very excited to join Valley Hospital,” said Wise. “We’ve been caring for residents and tourists for more than 45 years, and continually expand services to meet their needs. We have a concentrated expertise in advanced cardiovascular and neurological care, and our GME program has developed a solid talent pipeline of primary care physicians and specialists to our community.”

In 2018, Valley Hospital added two new cardiac catheterization labs and 18 private rooms for medical surgical patients. The GME program, now in its 13th year, offers residencies in internal medicine, family medicine, neurology, and orthopedic services, along with fellowships in gastroenterology and pulmonary/critical care.  As a teaching hospital, Valley also has a Pharmacy Residency program and over 600 multidisciplinary clerkships and internships offered annually.

Before joining Valley Hospital, Wise served over 11 years as the Chief Operating Officer at Summerlin Hospital, which is also part of The Valley Health System in Las Vegas. He earned both his Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Administration degrees from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia and his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
