Comprehensive Services For You & Your Baby — All Under One Roof

mom and babyCongratulations on the upcoming birth of your baby! Thousands of Southern Nevada mothers have found peace of mind knowing that multiple levels of care are available at Valley Hospital Medical Center. Though few expect complications, many parents and physicians prefer to deliver their babies at a hospital that offers a comprehensive range high-risk services, including Level II and Level III neonatal intensive care units for babies who aren’t quite ready to go home immediately after birth.

Valley Hospital offers some of the region’s most advanced technologies and services for mothers and infants, including:

  • A maternal triage unit for evaluation and treatment
  • An antepartum unit to monitor pregnancy-related complications
  • Ten labor-delivery-recovery rooms
  • Two operating rooms located seconds away from the birthing rooms
  • Normal, intermediate and high-risk infant nurseries
  • Dedicated infant-transport ambulance for infant transfers between hospitals.

Preregistering for Your Hospital Stay

As your due date approaches, don’t forget to preregister for your upcoming visit! Please register any time before your due date (we recommend at least 30 days before you’re due). We offer several ways to do this: in person at Valley Hospital, over the telephone by calling (702) 369-7710  between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or online by accessing REGIE .

No matter how you preregister, you'll need to stop by the Admitting department so that we can make copies of your photo identification and insurance cards, and so you can sign any necessary forms and pay for any deductibles, copayments or other out-of-pocket expenses. If you are responsible for your own payments, please be sure to follow your pre-arranged agreement.

Offering Quality Care is a Labor of Love

Parents who choose to deliver their baby at Valley Hospital appreciate our family-centered approach to maternity care that allows their birth experience to be as private or family-oriented as they like. Should any complications occur during birth, we have two operating rooms that are immediately accessible from any labor-delivery-recovery room.

We strongly encourage you to discuss any birthing preferences with your physician before you deliver your baby.

Helping a New Family Begin

After you’ve been relocated to a post-partum room, you may choose to “room-in” with your little one or allow us to care for your newborn in our full-service nursery. Whatever your choice, we’ll do our best to make sure you and your family (including siblings of any age) feel at home.

Other special highlights of our unit include:

  • Flexible feeding depending upon your baby's needs
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Personal instruction on your baby's care
  • Special arrangements to maximize contact with your baby should he or she require intensive care at the hospital

Specializing in High-Risk Pregnancies, Deliveries & Infant Care

Whether you are a high-risk or low-risk pregnancy, you can feel confident knowing that Valley Hospital specializes in caring for high-risk moms and babies. Our tiniest patients receive premium care in our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A neonatalogist is in-house around the clock and our own specialized nursing staff provides high-tech, soft-touch care in a soothing environment. We have liberal visiting hours for parents and grandparents, and two separate rooms for private consultations, naps and relaxation activities.

If your baby does require a stay in our NICU, we’ll encourage your active participation in his or her development by encouraging skin-to-skin contact and rocking chair time, breastfeeding, and other parent/baby related interactions. We also keep the lights dimmed in the unit, use quiet voices, dress your baby in preemie clothing and encourage parents to bring colorful blankets and pictures from home to decorate the baby’s layette.
